BRIGHT LINES is OPEN to Submissions!

Thank you for your interest in Confluences! We are currently open to submissions of written and visual work for our “Bright Lines” channel, and will release monthly open calls, for the rest of the semester.

Send us your creative work to nyushconfluences@gmail.com, in an attached word document with a sensible 12pt font, or a picture file for visual work. Indicate your name and class year in the email, but do not include any identifying information in your submission file. For more details, see below:

What is “Bright Lines”?

Bright Lines |青思 is a “channel” in Confluences online literary platform, which also houses the annual Poplar Review! Bright Lines is led by a student-run editorial team at NYU Shanghai. We want to showcase the varied voices of our school community, and aim to release monthly open calls for new work. We hope that you will support us, and participate in this new art and writing community!

What kinds of work are you looking for?

We welcome written and visual works of various creative genres, including:

  • Prose (fiction / non-fiction)
  • Poetry (of different kinds: formal, experimental, etc.)
  • Plays / Scripts
  • Visual art / Photography

All submissions will be read, edited and posted by a student-led team.

How do I submit?

Send your work to nyushconfluences@gmail.com. Before submitting, please check to ensure that you’ve adhered to these guidelines:

  • Send all work as an attached Word document (written) or picture file (visual) with your email
  • In the body of the email: indicate your name, and class year.
  • Remove any identifying information from within the attached submission file itself: e.g. name, class year, etc. We will read submissions blind, to avoid bias.
